Match-3 To Produce The Best Film Possible In Tinseltown Dreams

March 19, 2010

Tinseltown Dreams: The 50's is a new iPhone and iPod title based off of a match-3 PC game by the same name that features a unique movie producing twist.  In Tinseltown Dreams you must match-3 like tiles just as you would expect, but instead of earning points, you earn cash to spend on producing a film.
“Merging the best Match 3 mechanics with the ability to create your own films using characters, sets and props is unlike anything else on the App Store and provides hours of enjoyment,” stated Jonathan Kromrey, general manager of Apple Games for Namco Networks.
The match-3 portion of the game features a variety of unique movie-related tiles that you must match to earn money.  The faster you clear the level of a specific number of gold blocks -- located under the tiles, the more money you earn.  Gold blocks are removed from the board by simply matching at least three like tiles over the top of them.  Power-ups can also be obtained by scoring large combos or matching five or more tiles at a time. The movie producing portion of the game features an entirely different interface where you hire a crew and cast, and purchase and place props to create a film from the seven available themes.  The game has over 180 different props and characters to choose from, so you can populate your stage with only the best to hopefully make a box office hit. The game also features Facebook Connect to boast about your scores, and in-game awards for accomplishing certain tasks. If you aren't a fan of match-3 games in the first place, Tinseltown Dreams probably won't do much for you.  However, if you enjoy match-3 games and are looking for a new way to play, Tinseltown Dreams: The 50's is worth the $2.99 asking price.
