The Hero Flies Into The App Store

March 9, 2010

Traplight Games together with publisher Chillingo have released the high-flying action game, The Hero, for the iPhone and iPod touch. In The Hero, you take control of a nameless super hero who has been called upon once again to save the world from Dr. Hubbub, his evil nemesis.  You will take flight through four different metropolises across 15 campaign levels.  The Hero will have to face and destroy over 20 different enemy units by flying through them and employing three different super powers. The Hero's movements can be controlled via an on-screen d-pad located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen or via tilt.  The idea of the game is to dispose of your enemies as quickly and efficiently as possible, because if you let them get away with too much, civilians will turn against you.  And if you let the meter plummet too far, you will lose. You can regain fame by flying past windows and high-fiving civilians who have their hands sticking out. The game also features two difficulty levels, Survival Mode, and achievements and leaderboards via Chillingo's Crystal social network.  It also features an enhanced mode for iPhone 3GS owners, pushing the framerate to 60 fps. The Hero is now available in the App Store for $1.99.  We have a hands-on preview of the game available for anyone looking to learn a bit more.  Expect a full review in the near future.
