Old iPhones Die Hard?

April 27, 2010

Admob released a new report today presenting the results of its wide analytics activity and apparently, there are still some iPhone 2G out there.

Indeed, the market share of the iPhone 2G is particularly small, representing just 2% of the iDevices on the market (85 million units). If you take in consideration how many were originally sold thought (6.1 million units); this would mean according to Brainstorm Tech's Elmer-DeWitt that almost one third of the first generation iPhones put in circulation three years ago are still alive.

Hmm, if you add this to it all the 1st Gen iPod touches out there; Apple is pulling the plug on quite a couple devices this summer...

My 20 months-old iPhone 3G is practically dead by now, what's your secret?
