ESPN ScoreCenter Gets The XL Treatment For iPad
April 1, 2010
ESPN's ScoreCenter app has received the XL treatment, providing you with everything you loved about the iPhone version inside of an iPad-optimized interface and a handful of new features.
ScoreCenter XL will provide scores from hundreds of global leagues and sports just like the iPhone version, but it will also include all kinds of in-depth information and videos that will make any sports fan proud to own an iPad.
The app features an iPad-optimized interface that places all of the top games and scores on the left-hand side of the screen for easy access, and the top news and videos on the larger right-hand portion of the screen. But that's only if you are on the main "Top Events" page.
If you are on a specific sport page, the app highlights all of the scores once again on the left-hand side as scrollable list. If you tap on a game, you can access video highlights, live play-by-play, full box scores and scoring summaries, in-game statistics, and full game previews and recaps.
In ScoreCenter XL, myTeams will feature news, analysis, and video for your favorite teams across every sport. And don't worry, you will still be able to receive push notifications alerts for when a game has started/ended, when a period is over, or when there is a scoring play.
All of this will come at a price however, much unlike the free iPhone version of ScoreCenter. ScoreCenter XL for iPad will be available on April 3rd for... $4.99. It seems like a lot when compared to the free iPhone version, but what wouldn't? Can a price really stand in the way of a sports addicts' need to obtain scores? Yeah, I suppose it could.
