Time Inc. has finally released TIME Magazine for iPad, your one-stop app for everything TIME-related. This new free app will replace all of those silly $4.99 weekly apps that Time Inc. thought it was alright to litter your springboard with.
The TIME Magazine iPad app is a magazine wrapper/reader of sorts that gives you the ability to purchase each week’s digital issue for $4.99 via in-app purchase. Each issue is contained within an in-app library and can be accessed on the fly. As always, each week’s digital issue includes the print edition that’s on newsstands, international content, and extra photos and video.
The app also features the ability to access TIME.com’s news feed to keep up with current events.
For those of you who have already purchased some of the separate weekly digital editions of TIME Magazine, it doesn’t appear as if you can re-download those for free from within the app to clean up your springboard, which is kind of a let down.
The TIME Magazine iPad app is available in the App Store for free, but it really serves little purpose without purchasing at least a single digital issue of the magazine for $4.99. Depending how addicted you are to their content, your mileage will vary with this one. Time Inc. eventually intends to add digital subscriptions to the app, which will hopefully give you more bang for your buck.
