Barnes & Noble's eReader Now Available On The iPad
After Apple itself and Amazon, it's time for yet another player today to try grabbing a piece of the iPad as an eBook reader and distribution platform; America's favorite book store, Barnes & Noble.
Despite of not really being a "legit" eBook reader (not an e-ink screen), the iPad has the incredible advantage of embedding more than one bookstore, unlike the Kindle or the Nook. That makes the iPad sort of open right?
Alright so, Barnes & Noble has now an iPad app of its own to buy and read eBooks. It gives you access to about a million titles, has some themes and personalization options, but overall it's very much like the kindle app. That's a bad thing, it really is a drawback to have to use the browser to buy your books and be jumping back and forth all the time. The interface is further light years away from iBooks. Well, guess you can't beat Apple's wonderful page turning animation. Of course that's not really a major issue.
It really comes down to content. I would see the BN eReader as a fallback in case the book you're looking for is not in iBooks, or if it's much cheaper.
BN eReader is available for free, now on the iPad App Store.
