Firemint has issued a content-rich update to
Flight Control for iPhone that adds a brand new map with a new mechanic, brighter colors, and a safe fast forward button. Did you really think you could kick that
Flight Control addiction so easily?
The new map, titled Windy Airfield, requires you to keep an eye on the wind sock located in the middle of the map. As the wind changes, runways will close and reopen, forcing you to reroute all of the planes that were headed to each one until the wind changes direction again. Planes that were already on their approach will finish the landing process, however.
Firemint has also implemented the popular "safe fast-forward" function found in the
iPad version of the game. Now when you first tap the fast-forward button, it will go into safe mode, which will automatically bring the game back down to its normal speed if a collision warning sounds. This is a great addition for
Flight Control novices, but don't worry veterans, you can still use your usual "lock fast-forward" function by simply tapping the button again.
Flight Control also received a bit of a graphical makeover. The game now features a brighter, more saturated look as you can see in the comparison screenshots below.

To celebrate all of the new features, Firemint is offering up a new
Flight Control wallpaper for free. For convenience, we have included it below.
To save the wallpaper using Mobile Safari on your iPhone or iPod touch, just tap and hold on the image to bring up the “Save Image” function. If you are running our
AppAdvice app, just tap on the image to load it in a new window and then take a screenshot by holding in the power and home button at the same time. Wallpapers will be saved to your camera roll.
