Italian Site iSpazio Gives Us A Peek At Next Gen iPhone Frame And Screen

May 6, 2010

We're just over one month from getting our first official look at iPhone IV so expect the usual barrage of iPhone rumors to only intensify. Today, we have details from Italian iPhone blog, iSpazio, on what the next gen device will sport in terms of its front frame and screen.

From the exclusive photos on their site and a quick Google translation, it would appear the frame has an identical shape and size to the models we've been enjoying for the last several years. The only noticeable difference is that very conspicuous little hole at the top for the front facing camera that's been widely reported and demonstrated via Gizmodo's leaked prototype. With respect to the screen, iSpazio speculates that Apple is continuing along with LCD and not AMOLED as many had predicted and hoped.

While the appearance of the Gizmodo prototype seen last month was a fairly radical departure in terms of look and aesthetics with its more sharper edges and corners, these photos hint to no real changes in terms of the screen dimension. Perhaps this was done to retain a consistent resolution and aspect ratio for apps already developed. But it looks more and more likely that iChat will be a reality with this additional evidence for a front facing camera.

As with any rumor, keep expectations tempered as anything can change before the final product release. And with that Gizmodo leak, it's a good bet Steve Jobs will do his best to wow us with something brand new.
