European iPhone 4 Release Date Remains Unknown
June 29, 2010
While U.S. consumers continue to fight one another to get the iPhone 4, attention turns to the European market. Steve Jobs at WWDC announced a July launch for much of Europe, but the exact date wasn't given. Today, ApfelBlog has discovered code on Orange's website that might answer that question.
According to the code from Switzerland's official iPhone 4 carrier, the new device will be released on July 31:
Although Apple did indeed push back the European launch of the iPad due to shortages in the U.S., they usually provide accurate release date information. So, July 31 might be the correct date that was relayed to Orange and other European providers. Yet, the date seems more like a placeholder as Saturdays aren't typical iPhone release days, but it is possible.
Most likely, the actual European launch will occur sometime after the 15th to coincide with the availability of the white iPhone 4. Until we hear from Apple, the exact date of the July iPhone 4 launch is pure speculation.
