Google Earth Goes Universal

June 17, 2010

There will be many app users happy about this: Google Earth is now Universal. The popular globe application has been available for sometime for iPhone and iPod Touch users, but the 3.0 version is the first that can work perfectly on the iPad.

Similar to the Mac and PC versions of the same name, Google Earth allows users to navigate the world with simply a swipe of the finger.  The app provides colors that are bright and the details are exactly what you'd expect from Google Earth, from state or country views, right down to details of your favorite city. The app includes a Panoramio layer, which allows you to browse millions of geo-located photos around the world.  In addition, the app provides easy Wikipedia linking between places on the map and the encyclopedia. The app is available for free at the App Store.
