Bloomberg: Apple Was Warned About Antenna Issue

July 15, 2010

Let’s pour it on: Apparently an Apple senior antenna engineer warned the company about potential problems with the iPhone 4. More distressing, an unnamed carrier partner also alerted the company of potential problems prior to Apple’s June 24th release of the device.

This news comes from Bloomberg:
"Last year, Ruben Caballero, a senior engineer and antenna expert, informed Apple’s management the device’s design may hurt reception, said the person, who is not authorized to speak on Apple’s behalf and asked not to be identified."
Apple is not commenting on the Bloomberg report, nor are they making Caballero available for interview. The company has scheduled an announcement on the iPhone 4, to be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. PT in Cupertino, California. While the specific talking-points of this announcement have not yet been released to the press, certainly the antenna issue will be front-and-center. AppAdvice will continue updating our readers on developments regarding this story. In addition, expect full coverage of the Apple event tomorrow as it happens.
