U.S. iPad Customers Pay More Than Most

August 1, 2010

If U.S. consumers feel they are paying too much to use their 3G iPad, they are correct.  According to Tableu Software, U.S. consumers pay $12.50 for each GB of data that is downloaded. The company looked at costs in 18 different countries. The cost of downloads in the United States are the fifth most expensive on the list. Only France ($25.47), Belgium ($21.77), Luxembourg ($21.77) and the Netherlands ($19.59) pay more per GB. The least expensive prices are available in Germany ($1.09), Hong Kong ($0.89) and Singapore ($0.51). The results are available in an interactive chart available here. I'm not surprised with where U.S. rates are on this list. However, I am a bit dumfounded by the ranges of prices available. When one country pays $0.51/GB and another pays $25.47/GB something is quite wrong. What do our readers think of these numbers? Please leave your comments below.
