Mother Goose Reader Great For Toddlers
July 14, 2010
As a father of a three-year-old daughter, I am always on the lookout for fun, educational and interesting iPad apps to increase her learning. One such app is the recently released Mother Goose Reader, the first by My Own Kids Books, LLC.
The Mother Goose Reader offers 20 timeless rhymes such as Muffin Man, Farmer in the Dell and Three Little Kittens. Once your toddler selects one of the stories from the main menu, the Mother Goose Reader gets to work and recites the story in a clear, concise and soothing voice. As the story is read, each word is highlighted for the child to see. Each rhyme is beautifully enhanced with colorful illustrations that come alive when your child clicks on one of the many objects. For example, they might click on a cat and it will purr; or a girl and she will cry! While its features are not as expansive as those on the Disney iPad reader apps (such as the Princess and the Frog and Toy Story), the Mother Goose Reader is very good and should keep your child’s attention for some time. The app is available today for $2.99 in the App Store. A second version of the app is expected to be released in the future.
