FaceTime And Music: Perfect Together

July 27, 2010

An AppAdvice.com reader offered us this terrific tip for users of FaceTime. Apparently, if you are chatting on your iPhone 4 using its unique video feature and decide to listen to music too, there are no problems.

Our reader Brett was talking to his girlfriend via FaceTime when he decided to listen to music using the free Pandora app. He could hear the music and his girlfriend with no problem. Here's what Brett told us:
"I was talking to her so I go to the home screen and tapped on the Pandora app and went back to face time. I thought it was absolutely awesome that I could be on face time and simultaneously stream music on Pandora. I could hear hear my girlfriend talk clearly and the volume of the music streaming on Pandora was the perfect amount to listen to both her and the music. What is even more amazing to me is that she didn't hear the music at all, so she tried it as well. Both of us ended up streaming different songs from Pandora and talking on face time together. It was a great way to just hang out and chill and it was as if we were in the same room listening to music together. The only drawback to this little discovery is that the volume control on Pandora doesn't work while using FaceTime, i hope they could change this in an update someday."
Amazing little piece of information! This solution can even make long conference calls more bearable since you can listen to music without the other person knowing about it! Or, if you are being chewed out by your significant other... Thanks for the tip, Brett!
