If you’re looking for a basic and effective note-taking app for your iPad or iPhone/iPod touch, look no further than Simplenote. Created by Codality, the app allows users to type notes on each of their devices, which are then synced across all platforms.
The app itself is free, although a premium version is available for $8.99/year. This version eliminates pesky ads and allows for the automatic backup of your note files. Most users will be comfortable using the free version, however. In fact, the app’s creators allow you to turn off the ads feature anyway, which is very cool.
Once the app is downloaded, users will need to create an online account with an email and password. This information is sent to the SimpleNote site for your use on other devices. For example, once you create an account on your iPhone 4, you can then use that same account on your iPad. Together, the notes will sync at the push of a button.
