Bejeweled 2 + Blitz Update Adds Coins And Boosts, Now On Par With The Facebook Version
August 3, 2010
iPhone and iPod touch Bejeweled Blitzers will once again be able to compete with their Facebook Blitz playing friends' high scores thanks to the most recent update, which adds the ability to earn coins and use boosts, something that has been available to those who played the game on Facebook for a while now.
In Bejeweled 2 + Blitz, you are now able to earn coins in Blitz mode by simply matching like-colored gems with coins inside of them. At the end of the game, the coins you have earned are banked and can be spent on boosts. Banked coins can be used in both the iPhone and Facebook versions of the game in case you ever feeling like trading your finger in for a mouse.
Boosts are acquired by spending your hard earned coins. Boosts vary in price and effectiveness depending on your style of play. Boosts include: mystery gem, detonator, scrambler, +5 seconds, and free multiplier. When you purchase a boost, it is applied to your next three games. If you are a constant restarter, you will want to avoid every urge to do so when you have purchased boosts since a restart counts as an entire game.
Since coins and boosts are late to the iPhone and iPod touch Blitz party, PopCap has decided to award players with 50,000 bonus coins just for playing online for the first time. 50,000 coins will buy you a whole lot of +5 seconds and free multipliers, which should help you show up your gloating Facebook friends.
Bejeweled 2 + Blitz is available in the App Store for $2.99. The update is, of course, available for free to all existing players.
