QuickAdvice: Carry a Photo Booth in Your Pocket with IncrediBooth
IncrediBooth ($0.99) by Synthetic Corp is a photo booth app specifically created for the iPhone 4. It brings back the old nostalgic feeling of those booths where you crammed your friends in and took several silly photos, which were printed on a little photo strip.
When IncrediBooth is first launched, there will be a little portrait where you will see what the front-facing camera of the iPhone 4 sees. Below that is a knob, where you can switch between three different lenses - a black & white, a darker, vintage-like lens, and another one that adds a pinkish tint to your images. Pick your lens, and then hit the red button in the knob's center.
There will be a small red light on the screen that will blink three times to let you know that the app will soon take the pics, so it gives you a little time to get ready. Once the photos are being taken, there is about a 3-second interval between each photo, for a total of four photos per strip.
Once the pictures are taken, the little red light at the bottom of the screen will glow, with the arrow pointing to the right saying 'Photos Outside', just like a real photo booth would. The next screen is the screen that will show you all of your photo strips, with the most recent being shown first.
Tapping a strip will give you more information about that particular strip, including when it was shot on, and where it was taken at. You can also Share the strip on Facebook, send it in an Email, or just save it to the photo library. If you're unsatisfied with it, you can trash it forever.
IncrediBooth is just a fun app to have if you have an iPhone 4. Photo booths were incredibly popular back in the day, and they were just pure fun. Having this app is just like carrying around a portable photo booth with you to share with you and your friends all the time.
This is Synthetic Corp's third iPhone app (the others being Hipstamatic and SwankoLab), and once again they have hit a home run with a beautiful and fun interface, much like the other two apps. The interface just brings back memories of the old photo booths, and makes it unique and stands out more from the other 'photo booth' apps in the App Store.
I don't have much negative to say about this app, but I think it would be great if they could incorporate more lenses in the future. Just having three to choose from is kind of lacking in variety. Also, it only uses the front-facing camera on the iPhone 4, with no option to use the back camera. Sometimes it would be nice to be able to use the 5MP camera to take more spontaneous shots.
But overall, this app is a must for any iPhone 4 owner.
