PDF Warner Protects Jailbreakers Against PDF Exploit Getting Root
While Apple has already released a fix for the PDF exploit that allows the latest jailbreak, it's really not for everyone, as it also kills the ability to jailbreak. Additionally, it doesn't fix the problem on the 2G iPhone and first generation iPod touch. Fortunately, Saurik and the Dev-Team are already beta-testing a fix for those still on iOS 4.0.1 and 3.2.2. But, in the meantime, you're still taking a risk. Actually, the risk is even greater now that Comex released the source code of his work.
In the meantime, there is one jailbreak app that can mitigate the problem somewhat. Called PDF Warner, and available on the jailbreak, it will ask you to confirm every time you open a PDF. Of course, someone could still convince you to open a malicious file with some social engineering. Nevertheless, it will at least prevent a malicious website from loading one without your knowledge.
