QuickAdvice: Canned - Refreshment For Quick Texting Templates
Canned ($0.99) by Sky Balloon is an app that allows you to create template messages for quick texting.
Throughout your week, how many times do you send the same message to your friends and family, even coworkers? Think about it. How about you save yourself some time from typing out the same thing every day and turn it into a template? Canned can help.
First things first, I want to say that I love the icon of the app. It's literally a can of soda labeled 'Canned SMS'. Clever. So pop that sucker open and let's get down to business.
You'll first get a screen that's empty. Hit the Add button to create a new template. Type whatever you need for your SMS template, and then you can save it or add a group of people to it for even easier texting.
If you save it without adding any people, if you select the message to send, it will bring up a new message screen where you can manually enter in the people you want to send this 'canned' message to. However, if you add a person or multiple people to a template, the To: field will automatically be filled up when you select a message to send.
There is no limit on how many people you can assign to a single template, so this is great for sending large group texts. Bored and just want to see how your friends are doing? Assign a couple to a standard greeting like 'Hey what's up?' and send it once a day and keep in contact with more people at once. How about if you are running late to a meeting? Set up the template and add your coworkers to it, then open up the app and select that message and send it in a matter of seconds.
There's just no fuss with the app once you got your canned messages. If you don't need a message later on, you can easily delete them. What if you want to remove someone from a message? Easy - just edit the message and then go to the contacts and just hit that minus button and POOF they're gone.
This is much better than having to text while driving since it's much quicker, but only use it when you absolutely must! I would still like to have my readers be able to read my other articles.
I already love this app based on the icon alone (which is just great). But I think I can get a lot of use out of this because I do find myself sending the same messages multiple times, and this will really eliminate the need to type everything again and again.
The app launches fast, it's minimalistic but has everything you need, and can even get rid of the step of having to assign people to a message repeatedly. Select the message and people (or send to various people) and send it!
No fuss, no hassle. Quick, easy, and somewhat safer texting. It simply does one thing and does it very well.
Launch. Select. Send.
The only real work is setting up the templates, but that's a given.
