QuickAdvice: Time Away

Time Away ($1.99) by Chris Clogg is an app to help you keep track of how much time has elapsed or remains.

I'm pretty sure we've all had a moment where we want to see exactly how much time is left or how long it has been since an event happened. With Time Away, we can do that with a simple but effective interface.

The main screen is divided into two sections: Time Since and Time Until. Add a new event with the + at the top corner, which you then fill out a title, additional notes, the date and the time. You can choose to have the timer units be default (which will display every time unit accordingly) or you can choose one unit of time only. The units of time are seconds, minutes, days, weeks, months, and years.

The premise is simple enough and pretty user friendly. Back on the main screen, if you hit the Edit button, you can delete events and gain access to the Settings.

In the Settings, the toggle for the 24 hour clock is there if that is your preferred time format, as well as a toggle for history time-difference. A slider is provided for you to choose the default time unit for new entries from that point forward. I find that the Default unit is sufficient enough.

There is also Facebook and Twitter integration, just in case you need to share your countdown with your friends and followers. At the time I was testing the app, I seemed to have issues with connecting to Facebook, but that could be more of a Facebook API issue (and Facebook is always acting up lately, it seems).

Overall, this is a pretty good time-tracking app. It lets you easily see at a glance how much time has passed or how much time you have left for whatever dreadful or awesome upcoming event. Surely you've had a moment where you have to have a countdown.

The price is $2, but I think the app is better off being sold at $1. I mean it is a good app, but I don't believe that it's 2-buck good. Maybe keep an eye on this app when the price drops down a notch.
