Rumor: Upcoming iTV To Get Apps

August 12, 2010

Following last May's revelations, Engadget is back at it this week with some new details concerning an upcoming reinvented Apple TV. Or, iTV, as that is apparently how Apple is planning to rebrand the device. Powered by Apps, and the App Store, the device will not be able to output 1080p HD video, and will be stuck at a lower 720p resolution. This is apparently related to some hardware limitations of the A4 processor. Sounds hard to believe, but who knows? Also, the device is said to be due this fall. To me, apps on TV sounds like an awesome idea. On top of all the content apps, I could see many iOS games fitting perfectly, and taking advantage of the iPhone as a controller. What do you think?
