Bing iPhone App Update Adds New Travel And Map Features
September 27, 2010
It has been a few months since Microsoft updated its Bing iPhone and iPod touch app with any substantial features, but today they have decided to put an end to that streak. Bing v1.3 adds new travel and map features that bring it much closer to the company's desktop search tool.
Mobile Bing users are now able to get in-depth flight information from the Travel link located on the app's home screen. Here you will be able to find top deals from your home airport along with any last minute and weekend deals.
If you have a specific destination in mind, you can do a flight search to find the best fare available and utilize the "estimate price" preview to find fares for alternate dates or airports. The much-loved Price Predictor has also found its way into the app, giving you the most accurate information on when to purchase your ticket.
If you are in a pinch and need to know the status of your flight, Bing for iPhone and iPod touch can now help you with that as well.
Bing v1.3 also features a redesigned map. The backdrop has been enhanced so information such as traffic details, business listings, labels, and more could "pop." The font size corresponding to larger roads has been increased, and neighborhood labels have been added so you can easily identify locations in cities. Last but not least, you can now easily switch between the map view and list view on the map.
So if you haven't given Bing for iPhone and iPod touch a try yet, it appears that now is the time. The flight Price Predictor alone is worth the few moments it takes to download this free app.
