More Chatter About Possible T-Mobile iPhone

September 10, 2010
Another day, and another rumor has been uncovered about a possible T-Mobile iPhone coming sometime in 2011. According to IntoMobile, a Videotron executive VP said his company would be selling the iPhone sometime in the new year with support for the 1700MHz AWS band. T-Mobile exclusively uses the AWS 1700/2100 MHz frequency-band. Videtron, which is based in Quebec, Canada is a regional operator and recently started its mobile service in that country. The unnamed executive concluded that Wind and T-Mobile would be getting the iPhone sometime next year. T-Mobile is owned by Bonn, Germany-based Deutsche Telekom. Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, T-Mobile USA is the fourth largest carrier in the United States. It sits behind Verizon Wireless, AT&T Mobility and Sprint Nextel. For some time now, rumors have been flying that Apple will soon end its exclusive deal with AT&T in the U.S. While earlier rumors focused on Verizon picking up the iPhone, in recent days, attention has turned to a possible T-Mobile based device. Yesterday, we reported that Wired's chief believed that T-Mobile would be getting an iPhone, but only the 3GS model. Keep in mind that this report did not indicate whether the T-Mobile iPhone would be coming to the United States, to Canada, or to both countries. As usual, until there is an official announcement from Apple, stories such as this will continue.
