Sneak Peek: Hands On With Tilt To Live HD

September 23, 2010
It's time to Tilt To Live all over again on your iPad. We have a preview build of Tilt To Live HD, and it's jaw dropping. Rather than simply upscaling all the visual assets, developer OneManLeft has redesigned the whole game for the iPad. You have the same sized arrow and red dots, but now the entire size of the iPad to tilt around. This means that there can be way more red dots on screen at once, but you have more room to maneuver as well. Plus there are now four weapons instead of three because of the added real estate. It's a completely brand new gaming experience on the iPad which can rarely be said for HD versions of iPhone titles. There aren't only more red dots, but they also come in new formations which will have you completely astounded when you first see them on your iPad. If redesigning the gameplay wasn't enough all the visuals are redesigned as well giving you a beautifully high polished game on screen. All the animations for each weapon are more deluxe, and there are so many more details on screen including constantly moving backgrounds. The same four modes as the multiple updated iPhone version are included giving you Classic, extreme classic which is Code Red, Gauntlet mode with no weapons, and frostbite where you shatter the falling frozen dots. Gauntlet mode has been completely redone so that it's no longer side scrolling so the dots pile up rather than just passing by so the screen becomes overloaded with dots, and flying knifes with no way to fight back. The iPad version will be a free download on September 30th which includes the complete classic mode like the original iPhone title launched way back when. The additional modes and weapons are available as an in-app purchase for $3.99 to unlock the entire game. Tilt To Live on the iPhone is one of the top five games overall, and the iPad version is so much better. There has never been any more action or enjoyment on the iPad, and this is probably the best iPad game to date. The overload of dots and weapons coupled with the pinpoint precise tilt controls just makes it an amazing experience. The game is all about score, and your combo; luckily with the added dots your combo is easier to maintain, and build up. Tilt To Live is one of the few games where you can keep playing because of the awards to unlock new weapons or just to beat your previous best score despite having online high scores. The iPad is a larger device to tilt, but OneManLeft has calibrated the game so well for the device. It's effortless to tilt your iPad, and control the arrow since the game is designed so you don't have to tilt as severely as the iPhone version. Just slight adjustments in the tilt of the iPad do the trick, and there's just more room to tilt around. If you've never heard of the iPhone version please check out our full review, and do yourself a favor in checking out Tilt To Live. Watch the trailer below to see Tilt To Live HD in action.
