Bumpers Return To Apple Stores [Update: Now Also Online]
October 6, 2010
Following the expiration of Apple's free Bumper program, the iPhone 4 cases are slowly making their way back to Apple Stores as well as online. The Bumpers - which come in Green, White, Blue, Pink and Orange - are priced at $29.
Apple began giving these cases away last summer as part of its iPhone 4 Case Program. At the time, Apple determined that the Bumpers would correct an antenna issue with the device. To get past the issue, Apple agreed to give the cases away for free to all iPhone 4 owners, but only for a limited time. The program ended on September 30.
While its online store still shows the Bumpers as being "unavailable," Apple is starting to stock the cases in its retail stores.
Update: It seems like Bumpers have now also made it back to Apple's online stores. All the colors are available and they ship within 24 hours.
At $29, I personally feel that these cases are overpriced, and better alternatives are available. I would suggest that if you haven't purchased a case yet, shop around and see what else is available.
