Google TV To Get AirPlay-Like Fling Feature & iOS Remote App
October 5, 2010
Today, Google told the world a bit more about their upcoming Google TV product. Google TV, described by Google as: "a platform that combines your current TV programming and the open web into a single, seamless entertainment experience." It will integrate all kinds of services, from Twitter to YouTube. Also, we hear they'll be giving our iDevices some love as well.
Similar to what Apple will do with AirPlay, Google has announced that it will let you "fling" or stream videos from all types of mobile devices, including iOS, to their Google TV boxes. Additionally, you will also be able to use your iDevice as a remote.
Google TV boxes are due to ship later this month, so it will be available earlier than AirPlay. Will it be just as good? I'm biased, but I have a feeling that it won't be. We hope AirPlay and Google TV will be widely adopted very quickly. The result: you'll be able to go to anyone's living room and stream any content from your iDevice to their TV. Wouldn't that be great?
