Can't Wait For AirPlay On Your iPad? We've Got Some Solutions

October 15, 2010
If you’ve been waiting for iOS 4.2 to stream videos with AirPlay, and cannot wait any longer, this report is for you. Now, there are two wired solutions to get your videos to your HD television. Oxnard, California-based Scosche recently released its sneakPEEK II audio/video cable for the iPad. Priced at $59.99, the device is compatible with the Netflix for iPad app.

The sneakPEEK II isn’t very pretty to look at, especially in this age of wireless connections. But, it will get the job done. Meanwhile, TUAW is reporting on the availability of an HDMI adapter for the iPad. Created by China-based Noosy, the adapter promises to provide video from your iPhone 4 or iPad to your HDTV device with 720p output. Unfortunately, not much else is known about it. Its price and availability are also unknown at this time.

However, if you can wait a little longer, streaming for the iPad is coming soon. One of the main selling points of the iOS 4.2 update is AirPlay. AirPlay will allow you to stream video and audio content from iTunes on your computer to your iPad wirelessly over your local Wi-Fi network. The update is expected in November. And, unlike the solutions mentioned above, the update will be free. Stay tuned.
