The Awesome AppAdvice App Gets An Update & Some Great New Features
November 24, 2010
Good news folks! Everyone's favorite app, namely ours (the AppAdvice app), has received a great new update over the weekend that includes some nice new features.
On the iPhone, as widely requested, the AppAdvice app has finally been given the ability to save posts to Instapaper. Also, depending on your location, app prices will now be displayed in local currency, which is huge. Furthermore, we've improved general stability and fixed many bugs.
One more thing, there is a new special section inside the app that will only appear during Apple keynotes. It will allow you to track, in realtime, what's being said, see our picture stream, and our comments. Yep, you've read that right:
As for the iPad, we're glad to tell you we're almost done bringing the rest of the site's sections to the bigger screen. In the meantime, we've just added the ability to share articles via email. As for iOS 4.2.1, you might need to kill the app from time to time if you feel like it's not refreshing. We've submitted a newer version that will multitask just fine. Apple has it, and it should be available very soon, so don't worry.
Also, we have identified an issue that might be affecting a small subset of users and preventing them from launching the app. We're very sorry about it, and the new version fixes that too. In the meantime, I have a good trick for you that will not only fix this problem, but probably help you out in many other cases with apps when you run into trouble. Very simply, just uninstall the app by holding it and hitting the little "x" symbol that appears. Then, go back to the App Store and buy it again. It's a bit confusing, as it will say "buy," but downloading an app you already purchased won't cost you a cent.
As usual, we're working really hard to fix all the issues you might be having, but if there is anything going wrong with your app, don't hesitate to contact us over at support@appadvice.com with all the details of what's happening.
Lastly, if there are still some of you who still don't own the app, we've got something for you as well. Just leave a comment below, or retweet this post, and we'll select as many as 25 of you to get a free copy. You've got 24 hours. Good luck!
The Universal AppAdvice app is available for $1.99 on the App Store, now with great new features.
