Folders, Printing Capabilities Coming To iBooks

November 26, 2010
Just days after we reported that an iBooks app update was coming, we have more details. And, for fans of folders, we have very good news for you. According to 9 to 5 Mac, Apple will soon release an iBooks update which will allow users to group their e-books and PDFs by "collections." Plus, users will be able to print their PDFs from within the app. 9 to 5 Mac reports:
From looking at these Apple documents it appears that collections will be a button you tap on the iBooks toolbar that brings up a list of all your collections but it also appears there will be ‘collections’ actually sitting on your bookshelf.
Also, you will now be able to take PDF’s you have stored in iBooks and e-mail them off to whomever you would like. Printing PDF’s via AirPrint will also come in this update which should be handy for many users. Apple will also be very clear to say that the printing and e-mailing of actual books is not happening.
It certainly would be asking too much to allow the printing of e-books. But, being able to print our PDF collections from our Apple devices is welcome news. While we don't know when Apple will release this update, we do know it will work on both the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. We will let you know when we have more information.
