News+ Concept Could Be Good News For iPad Owners
November 28, 2010
The folks behind the amazing Popular Science+ app for the iPad are now developing newspaper apps. Swedish-based Bonnier has unveiled a newspaper concept for the iPad called News+.
According to the company:
News+ combines the depth and editorial choices of a daily newspaper with the web's possibilities for interaction and quick updates.
Browsing News+ and absorbing the content comes naturally, making readers feel close to the articles and photos. You can follow the most important news as it develops in a special section that is continuously updated, so News+ keeps you on top of the news all day. While a U.S. newspaper publisher has yet to sign onto the News+ concept, it is making its way into App Stores worldwide. Already, Swedish morning daily Dagens Nyheter uses the News+ concept. Dailies Sydsvenskan and Expressen as well as business dailies Dagens Industri in Sweden and Børsen in Denmark will soon have their own versions too. News+ gives readers the ability to subscribe to, or buy single copies of a publication from within the app. News+ enabled apps can also be updated often to bring users breaking news. The iPad is still a new product. Newspaper publishers, like their magazine counterparts, are trying to figure out which iPad concept works best for their readers. News+ is indeed interesting and I would like to see it show up in the United States. At the very least, I hope a large newspaper publisher jumps onboard soon. In the meantime, Bonnier has released this video:
What do you think? Do you like the News+ concept?
