TouchUp For iPad App: Nice For Photo Editing And Sharing

November 1, 2010
New photo editing apps continue to call the App Store home. The newest one available is TouchUp for iPad by RogueSheep. With a tap or slide of your finger, your photos go from ordinary snapshots to masterpieces that will make your friends and family smile. The app comes with over a dozen effects which can be applied to your photos in nearly unlimited layers. Effects include:
  • Black and White
  • Sepia
  • Blur
  • Contracts
  • Brightness
  • Temperture
  • Saturation
  • Tint
  • Hue Shift
  • Color Paint Brush
  • Tint Pain Brush
Additional effects can be purchased from within the app. You can change the look of the entire photo or just to some parts of it. Each change can be easily undone using the “undo” button. Conversely, recent changes can be applied repeatedly using a “redo” button.

Photos are selected from your iPad’s Photo Library or from Flickr’s Recent Photos Stream. The latter, is great for selecting interesting photos from other people. However, TouchUp does not allow you to import photos from your own stream. Hopefully, a future app update will allow for this capability. What I find most promising about TouchUp for iPad is its integration with social networking sites. Each edited photo can be sent to your Twitter or Facebook account from within the app. You can also send a photo to your friends via email, or save a copy in your iPad’s Photo Library.

The app also includes a set of tutorials and how-to videos, which are nice additions. The TouchUp for iPad app is available today for $2.99, which is 40 percent off its regular price.
