Madden NFL 11 Is Free, With A Huge Catch
January 19, 2011
Ahead of this weekend's NFL league championship games, EA Sports is offering us an interesting gift. For a limited time, you can download and play Madden NFL 11 for the iPhone/iPod touch for free.
But, don't get at all excited:
Madden NFL 11 by EA Sports FREE only allows one quarter of play. Plus, you can’t even select your teams. The "game" features last year’s Super Bowl combatants, the Saints and the Colts. If you really enjoy the game, you can upgrade to the full version for $4.99.
This "free" version is only being offered for the iPhone, not the iPad.
This "gift" is strange for two reasons. First, is there anyone left who hasn't bought Madden 11 and really wants to? Second, the Saints and the Colts? They were the two best teams last year. Each team was eliminated early in the playoffs this year. At the very least, the folks at EA Sports should have setup a Jets vs. Steelers, or Packers vs. Bears exhibition game.
Instead of offering a free limited play game which will soon be outdated, EA Sports would have been wiser in slashing the price of the original game. Instead, we are left with this garbage.
Don't get me wrong: Madden is an amazing game, both for the iPhone and iPad. I'm just not happy about this promo.
Madden NFL 11 by EA Sports FREE is available in the App Store.
