Verizon To Sell Apple iPads That Connect Directly To Its Network

January 11, 2011
Verizon has announced it will release new iPads that will directly connect to its network. Verizon's current iPad model requires users to purchase a separate MiFi Mobile Hotspot device to connect to their network. AT&T's current models work without a separate device. The new iPads will get an embedded chip for use on Verizon’s CDMA network. This was first reported by Bloomberg News, who met with Francis Shammo, Chief Financial Officer of Verizon Communications Inc., who confirmed the news. There was no mention as to when the new iPads would be released, or if they would be first or second generation devices. Apple is expected to announced the iPad 2 in the coming months.
