Google's Doodle Brings The Nautilus To Your iPhone Today

February 8, 2011
In honor of the 183rd birthday of science fiction author Jules Verne today, Google updated its front page with an interesting new doodle that will certainly please any iDevice owner. The doodle, in case you haven't seen it already, is a virtual submarine cockpit in the shape of Google's logo that enables you "to navigate the Nautilus down (nearly) 20,000 leagues with the simple pull of a lever" as Google puts it. The surprise however comes when you load it from an accelerometer-embedded device like the iPhone or iPad. Indeed, the doodle is using a special api that will allow you to control the lever and navigate under water by simply tilting your device. It's a really nice effort Google made here, as it's original and goes to show the increasing amount of features web apps can support. So if you haven't already, make sure to check it out by the end of the day on google.com.
