Desire Lets You Track Your Progress On Your Wants

Desire Lets You Track Your Progress On Your Wants

February 24, 2011

Desire ($0.99) by Temperature75 is an app to help you keep track of your financial progress towards those things you desire the most.

We all want things. But not everyone will have the cash to immediately drop on those awesome shiny things we always lust after, right? Unless you are, then I (and probably a lot of other people) envy you! But for those that can't drop wads of cash all the time, saving up over time is probably the best thing we can do.

It's time to meet Desire.

Desire is an app that helps you keep track of your progress in saving money for that goal. The first thing you'll want to do when the app is launched is to enter your first desire. Give it a name, then give that sucker a price.

It will now appear in your Desires list. Tap on a desire to select it and view more details. You'll get taken to a gorgeous looking screen that shows off the desire name, a progress bar of 0 to whatever price you entered, and how much money you have saved so far. If you need to change anything, there is an Edit button at the top.

There's a shiny green button that says "Deposit." This is the button that you should be friends with as you use the app, because this is how you'll enter in your saved dough to go towards the desire. If you need to dip into your fund, there is a "Withdraw" button as well. Both of these options will give you a screen with a large-buttoned keypad to enter in an amount.

As you deposit and withdraw funds for your goal, the app will keep track of all this information. The "Show History" button will reveal all of this information to you.

Going back to the main screen, you can swipe on an item to delete it. The Edit button will also allow you to delete or rearrange the order in which the items appear.

Desires is a simple and beautiful app to help you with one thing: how much closer you are to your desires (as long as they can be measured by money).

However, currently you can only enter in whole dollar amounts, so I hope that the developer adds a decimal in the keypad for prices with cents. Having the option to backup the data would be nice to have as well, in case anything happens to the iPhone or iPod Touch. Categories would help with organization, and even priority sorting.

Hopefully, the developer can add such features and make this app even better. But for a 1.0 app, this is good stuff. And it can only get better from this point on.

At $1, check it out.
