LoveLetters ($2.99) by Baodom is an app that lets you create messages using photographs to represent letters.

Valentine's Day is coming up in a matter of days! If you want a fun way to send Valentine greetings to friends, family, or even that significant other, then LoveLetters may be of interest to you.

This isn't an app that lets you just add frames to a photo and call it a card, like another app I reviewed earlier, Postage ~ Romance. LoveLetters is much different - no photos are being framed, but instead, photos are being used to represent letters in the messages you create.

When launching LoveLetters, the first thing you'll see is an empty screen that allows you to type in your message at the top. Once you do, your message will show up with the letters and numbers represented by photographs of people with light or candles arranged to represent letters and numbers. Spaces will be represented by hearts.

If you tap on a letter in your message, you can apply an effect to that individual letter, or even change the appearance of that letter. The next step will allow you to apply an effect to the entire message, so if you combine that with individual effects, it can get pretty trippy. Finally, you can add a frame to your message for that finishing touch.

When you're done, you can post the photo message on to Facebook, email it, or save it to your Camera Roll.

The two default sets are the light letters and candle letters. You can add your own if you please, and that can be done in the "New Letter" tab. You can also browse whatever you have in your LoveLetter arsenal by checking out the Library tab.

LoveLetters is a pretty unique way to send messages to friends, and I haven't really seen any other app that does this. I do wish that there were more styles of characters in the library besides the two default sets, since adding your own would take a bit of work on the user's end, to find creative ways to represent letters and numbers.

I believe this app can be worth the $3 price if you're looking for a way to create and send unique messages for Valentine's Day besides the usual "lets-frame-a-photo-and-call-it-a-day" methodology. The results can be impressive, and are saved in high resolution.

So if you're still needing a way to impress your Valentine, then check out LoveLetters.
