Sparrow E-mail Client Gets A Small Update

February 15, 2011
Recently, we told you about the e-mail client, Sparrow, which is available in the Mac App Store. Today, we received word that the application received its first update. Although Sparrow still lacks general IMAP support, the update includes a few bug fixes that make sending an e-mail faster than in its first release. According to a posting on the Sparrow blog, version 1.0.1 includes:
  • Improved sending speed
  • Improved thread/conversation refresh
  • Basic Apple script support
  • ‘Menu bar only’ mode
  • Various bug fixes
In addition, we're happy to report a free Sparrow Lite version will be available soon in the Mac App Store. It is currently awaiting approval from Apple. Sparrow is available today for $9.99. It currently works with Google mail. The upcoming 1.1 update will offer IMAP support for most mail providers, including Yahoo!, AOL, and MobileMe.
