World Of Goo For iPhone Should Be Hitting The App Store Sometime In March
February 28, 2011
Barring any unforeseen setbacks, 2D Boy believes that they will have the iPhone and iPod touch version of their popular physics-based puzzle game, World of Goo, all polished up and ready to go sometime this March.
2D Boy had initially planned to have an iPhone and iPod touch version of World of Goo available in the App Store almost two years ago, but it never materialized thanks to technical issues and a variety of other problems. An iPad version did, however, hit the App Store back in December, and thanks to that successful launch, the team decided to give the smaller screen version another shot. As it turns out, it wasn't as difficult of a project to tackle as they once thought.
According to a recent blog post:
"Screen size was our biggest concern too. But, against all expectations, the size of the screen was not much of an obstacle at all. After a few minutes of playing, my feeble human brain doesn’t even notice anymore. Even so, we’ve added pinch-zooming for those days when your fingers are feeling fat."World of Goo still won't be available for every iDevice owner out there, however. 2D Boy has stated that it will only run on the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, third-gen iPod touch, and fourth-gen iPod touch. As always, we will let you know the moment we have any additional details regarding the launch of World of Goo for iPhone and iPod touch. In the meantime, you can check out our review of the iPad version to learn a little more about this ooey gooey puzzle game.
