Apple Just Made It Easier To Donate To The Red Cross Japan Relief Fund From Your iPhone And iPad

March 16, 2011
Apple made it pretty darn easy to donate to the American Red Cross Japan relief fund from your computer via iTunes, but doing so from your iPhone or iPad wasn't nearly as straightforward because the provided link simply brought up an error message in Mobile Safari. Thankfully some people behind the scenes at Apple took the time to help us out with this issue by making that same handy donation link completely iPhone and iPad friendly. Now when you follow the American Red Cross donation link from your iPhone or iPad, you will be brought right into the iTunes app on your iDevice. You will then receive a prompt asking you to sign in to donate, and once signed in, you will be able to contribute anywhere from $5 to $200 using the credit card information already stored within your account just like you can from your computer. Of course, Apple still doesn't take any slice of this pie, as all donations go straight to the Red Cross, and iTunes Store credit does not count towards your donation. So give the now iDevice friendly link a try to help out Japan's earthquake and tsunami victims. They definitely need all of the help they can get. Don't forget, you can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to donate $10 while on the go, or you can help out by purchasing one of the many apps from developers who have pledged to donate all of their proceeds.
