Sneak Peak: Augmented Reality On The iPad 2
March 15, 2011
Now that Apple has introduced the use of cameras on its new tablet, the iPad 2, don’t be surprised if your favorite apps begin using Augmented Reality technology. It is already being tested by Germany-based, Metaio and we’ve got the amazing video.
Augmented Reality (AR) became a huge sensation on the iPhone 4 and now developers are expected to bring its “wow” factor to Apple’s iPad 2 as well.
AR uses sound or graphics to alter one’s view of the real-world environment.
Perhaps the most recognized use of AR is the yellow ‘first down” line used in television broadcasts of U.S. football games. Similar functionality is shown during broadcasts of ice hockey, rugby, and crickets events as well.
Metaio hopes to include AR in a future iPad version of its junaio reference app.
