On Stage ($0.99) by Gunther Kreiser is an app to make the iPod.app experience better on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

Do you find the default iPod app boring? Want to spice up your music experience on your device? Well, fret no more because On Stage - For Music is here!

The first thing you'll notice about On Stage is that it has a minimal but gorgeous interface that is reminiscent of the iPod app itself. The launch screen allows will be blank if no music is playing, or will show your currently playing stuff if available.

There's a button with an iPod icon on it that will allow you to go through your iPod library in the traditional manner, but in a beautiful interface.

Once you start playing something, album art will be displayed on the screen, with regular playback controls in the bottom half and album/artist/song info at the top. Below the song information bar, there is an audio scrubber bar that can be shown or hidden by tapping on the screen.

On Stage features your usual controls, like Repeat and Shuffle. But you'll notice that there's another button in between these two. It reminds me of the iTunes 10 logo, and tapping it brings up a transparent lyrics overlay on the album artwork. Tapping the button again will hide it.

Additionally, there is another button tucked away neatly in the top right corner. This button gives you a couple more handy features. It allows you to look up Artist Information from Wikipedia, More from the currently playing artist, and Load Missing Lyrics. The Wikipedia section reminds me greatly of the iOS app, Articles, which is great itself.

On Stage - For Music is a great little app that any music fan should check out. It is a full featured music player with a great interface and nifty additional features that can't be found in the default iPod app! At $1, it's a must have.
