At Your Service? Siri Assistant Technology Said To Be "Deeply Integrated" Into iOS 5
March 29, 2011
When Apple previews iOS 5 at this year's WWDC in June, we might be hearing a lot about Siri and how its technology is integrated into the newest iOS, according to the folks at TechCrunch. The company, which was purchased by Apple in 2010, is behind the Siri Assistant app, which uses artificial intelligence and assistant technology to help users find different places and events.
According to TechCrunch, Siri’s technology is “deeply integrated” into iOS 5. As such, we can expect to see this incorporation demoed at the June 6 event in San Francisco, California.
The free Siri Assistant, which is still available in the App Store, helps you get things done. Think of it as your own concierge, which answers your questions and helps you make arrangements, if applicable.
For example, you can use it to book a taxi or to make reservations at your favorite restaurant.
Want to know where Elton John is in concert tonight? Siri is on the trail.
Need to know what shows are playing on Broadway? Ask Siri and each show is listed along with a link to purchase tickets.
Need a reminder to call your mother this weekend? Yes, wonderful Siri will setup a reminder for you.
The Siri Assistant app is very popular and it will be interesting to see what plans Apple has for it as it relates to iOS 5. Depending on what we see at WWDC, it could definitely take the sting out of not getting iOS 5 until later this year.
