Only For True Fanboys: Apple Launches The iAd Gallery App
April 5, 2011
There is something incredible about Apple's ability to make ads that you actually want to watch. I've spent hours watching all the Get a Mac ads, with much enjoyment, and while iAds are nowhere near as good, they still deserve some attention. Therefore, it's not surprising that Apple realized the dream of many developers (all of them rejected of course); make an app to showcase iAds.
The application is called iAd Gallery, and it just became available for free in the App Store. Apple's new app will allow you to check out all of the iAds from Apple's partners that are currently on the network. You can pick your favorites, check out the new ones, or go through the archive using a nicely executed carousel interface.
As a reminder, Apple creates these ads after consulting with the advertisers, and some of them are actually quite good. If you're a true fanboy, it's your duty to know each and every one of them, so get to work.
I don't know if Apple counts the views in iAd Gallery, but if it does, this might just become the most profitable ad-driven iOS app ever. Not to mention how hard it's getting to avoid Apple's iAd program these days.
