Next-Gen iPod Touch Leaked: Future iDevices Could Include A Button-Free Face, More Memory
April 5, 2011
Future iDevices will come with a button-free face, aluminum backing, and more memory, according to alleged iPod touch photos, first published by CrunchGear. Do not worry: The actual home button is staying, only now as a nonphysical one.
Marked with a “DVT-1” badge, which is code Apple uses for prototype products right before release, the purported iPod touch includes front and back cameras and 128 GB of memory. Most significantly, it includes a non-physical home button, which would probably reduce wear and tear on the iDevice over time. Finally, the iDevice presented here runs firmware 4.2.1MC14 and marked model MC550LL, meaning it has been around for a while and likely, thoroughly tested. Although these pictures are solely of an iPod touch, it could also tell us something about the iPhone 5, or at least confirm earlier reports. For one, the non-physical home button would almost surely be included on all future iDevices, not just the iPod touch. Reports earlier this year suggested future iDevices would have no home button, with the iDevice working exclusively through the use of gesturing. A more sound solution would probably be a nonphysical home button, which would work like the existing button only it would be more durable. Second, there have already been numerous reports indicating the next generation iPhone will come with an aluminum back. These photos, if proven true, could confirm these stories. Naturally, each of these photos could be a fake. What do you think? Leave your comments below.
