Great Find: Five U.S. National Park Apps Available For Free For A Limited Time

Planning a visit to a U.S. national park this summer? Now is the perfect time to download five of the best iPhone/iPod touch guides in the App Store for absolutely free. To celebrate National Park Week, which runs through April 24, the folks behind the Chimani Guides are making each of their guides available for free. Normally priced at between $4.99 and $9.99, titles include: Acadia National Park, Cape Cod National Seashore, Yosemite National Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and Grand Canyon National Park. Each guide offers up to 300+ points of interest (POIs), professional photographs, and auto audio tours. Can’t decide what to do once you get to a park? Use the up-to-date Ranger Events guide, which gives detailed information on the events happening in the next 48 hours. Best of all, each app includes a GPS “where am I” feature, so you’ll never get lost. Keep in mind each app is pretty large in size. The Yosemite National Park app alone, for example, is 335 MB. Still, we suggest getting these guides now and saving them to iTunes for later use.
