Resident Evil Mercenaries VS. For iPhone Hits The App Store

Capcom just released a new Resident Evil game for the iPhone earlier today that should excite fans of the series. The game in question is an online multiplayer title with squad-based gameplay called Resident Evil Mercenaries VS. ($2.99) and supports up to four players at a time.
As some of you may know, Resident Evil games aren't entirely new to the iOS platform. Capcom released Resident Evil 4 for both the iPad (Resident Evil 4 iPad Edition) and iPhone (Resident Evil 4: Platinum) although it didn't contain the whole experience of the console versions. Capcom also released a Resident Evil game on the iPhone previously called Resident Evil: Degeneration.
However, what seems to set Resident Evil VS. apart is the online based interaction and gameplay. Most Resident Evil titles are survival horrors while this game appears to be team oriented. The game will only have three arenas to fight in at first, with Capcom hopefully releasing more later on.
Judging by the game's screenshots, however, the series on iOS hasn't advanced much past the earlier titles' blocky visuals, but lets hope the gameplay holds up in Mercenaries.
