Are Verizon Customers Becoming Second Class Citizens?

April 8, 2011
Verizon iPhone customers are already upset they cannot upgrade their handsets to iOS 4.3. Now comes word some iPad 2 customers using Verizon’s 3G network are having connection problems, according to news first reported by Business Insider. The Apple Discussion Board is abuzz with Verizon customers complaining they cannot connect to 3G. The problem, according to Business Insider, happens when they turn off the data connection and try to reconnect later. Unfortunately, the only solution seems to be restarting the iPad or restoring it in iTunes. Naturally, the blame game is on, with Verizon customer service representatives blaming Apple’s hardware and Apple representatives blaming Verizon’s network. And of course, customers are stuck in the middle. Meanwhile, Verizon iPhone 4 customers remain stuck at version iOS 4.2.6. These users enjoy Apple’s new Personal Hotspot feature, but other iOS 4.3 features elude them. These include AirPlay Enhancements, iTunes Home Sharing, and a faster Mobile Safari experience. What’s going on? Does Apple have a gripe with Verizon? What do you think? Leave your comments below.
