World Of Goo Coming This Thursday For iPhone

April 13, 2011
The anticipated iPhone version of the hit puzzler has an established release date and price set. It will be launching Thursday, April 14 and carry an initial price tag of $.99 (for 24 hours). The game will also be turned into a Universal App so iPad owners who haven't bought the game yet can take advantage of the price as well. The game has been on the iPad (App Store link) now for a good few months and other iDevice owners can finally have a chance to see what the buzz is all about. World of Goo has also been available for quite some time (even before coming to iPad) on other platforms like the Nintendo Wii and Steam. For those new to the game, World of Goo is a puzzler where you build structures out of goo balls. You do this by grabbing these tiny creatures and connecting them together until they are sucked up in a tube. It will be interesting to see how the title plays on such small touchscreens (iPhone or iPod Touch) as compared to the iPad and if the user's fingers won't get in the way of the action or hinder gameplay. That was one of the reasons the developer, 2D Boy, delayed porting the game from the iPad recently, although the iPhone version was originally scheduled to come out in 2009. You can read more about the development of the iPad development and the experience 2D Boy gained from the App Store here.
