Some folks are perfectly happy using Facebook on their iPad through Safari. Some of us, however, are not. Facebook has not come out with an official app for iPad; their stance being that none is necessary. Many Facebook users and app developers feel differently, so there is a big market for third-party Facebook apps for iPad.
