QuickAdvice: FrontView Lets You Fix Photos’ Perspective
FrontView ($0.99) by Mediachance is one of those “magic” apps we iPhone users love to show off to our friends. FrontView is really a one-trick pony: it simply fixes the perspective in your photos. Couldn’t get a shot straight on? Too crowded, too far away, or too much sun glare straight on? Go ahead and take it from the side -- you can fix it with FrontView.
Simply choose a photo from your library or take one in-app. Move the red dots to the corners of your skewed object. A magnifying glass will pop up so you can see what you’re doing and watch exactly what’s happening underneath your finger. When you’re finished, tap the arrow, and presto, your rectangle is straight on! You can fine-tune the aspect ratio using the dial that pops up. Once you have it just right, tap the disk icon to save your photo. That’s all there is to it!
Now the bad part is that whatever was in the rectangle you created is now your entire picture. The rest of your photo is gone. And whatever is in your rectangle may be a little bit distorted, depending on what was in it and how much you adjusted it. It’s not the sort of app you’re going to use every day. Still, it’s a way you can possibly save a picture that was taken at a bad angle. And we all love apps that can salvage less-than-great photos.
FrontView is free for a limited time, so don’t wait. If you could use an app like this, snap it up before the sale ends!
